Nearly every epoxy floor that fails, fails at the prep stage. Here is exactly what we do, in order, and what it means for your space.

Step 01 · Preparation

Diamond grind

Industrial grinders with vacuum shrouds profile the whole slab. This is the step that decides whether your floor lasts fifteen years or fifteen months. Acid etching is faster and cheaper, and it is why so many garage floors peel — we don't use it.

Step 02 · Repair

Repair & patch

Cracks get chased out and filled, pits and spalled edges rebuilt, then everything is re-ground flat. Control joints are treated so they don't ghost through the finish six months later.

Step 03 · The pour

Base coat & broadcast

The pigmented base goes down wall to wall. For flake, chips are broadcast to refusal — until the surface physically won't take more. For metallic, this is the pour: pigment worked by hand in the few minutes before the resin sets.

Step 04 · Seal & cure

Topcoat & cure

Excess flake is scraped and the clear high-wear topcoat seals everything into one surface. Light foot traffic once it sets, vehicles after one week. Cold slabs cure slower, and we'll tell you that before we start rather than after.

Clear the slab

Everything off the floor — vehicles, shelving, the spare fridge. Wall to wall, bare.

Nothing to plug in

We bring our own generator. Nothing draws from your house, and you don't need to leave an outlet or a hose available.

Somewhere for the cars

The driveway is fine. Just not on the new floor for one week — worth planning for before we start.

Tell us about the slab

Floor heat, drains, a history of moisture. Surprises cost time; a heads-up costs nothing.

Questions about the day.

How loud is the grinding?

Loud, and for a few hours. It's the one genuinely disruptive part of the day. If you work from home or have a napping toddler, tell us and we'll schedule around it.

How much dust?

Very little. Our grinders run vacuum shrouds, so the dust is captured at the head rather than coating your garage. It's nothing like a demo job.

Does it smell?

There's an odor during the base and topcoat, strongest for about an hour. We ventilate as we go, and it's gone by the next morning.

Can you work in winter?

Yes. Cold slabs cure slower, so a January install may need longer than the usual week before vehicles. We'd rather add days than hand you a floor that wasn't ready.

What if it rains?

Inside a closed garage, rain makes no difference. What we watch is the slab: if the door has to stay open in wet weather, or the slab is damp from run-off, we reschedule rather than pour on a surface we can't keep dry while it sets.
